About the Sabres

The Badlands Sabres is located in Rapid City, SD. The team will play home games out of the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena and compete in the Frontier Division of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). This division includes a total of 7 teams located across Wyoming and Montana. The NA3HL has teams across the United States and is a developmental multi-tiered league system setup for the advancement of hockey players into collegiate competition. The ages of players range from 16 to 21 coming from across the world.

Under the leadership of Brendon Hodge, owner, head coach, and GM, the Sabres look to make its inaugural season a memorable one.

The Sabres have partnered with the Rapid City Rush of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) to provide a unified hockey experience to the Black Hills area. From the fan-based experience, everything from ticket packages, sponsorship opportunities, merchandise, and growing the game of hockey in western South Dakota.

The Badlands Sabres are a locally owned organization with very deep hockey roots. The Sabres idea originated with former professional hockey player Brendon Hodge. Several years ago, he saw the need for a junior hockey program in Rapid City. Partnering with former professional hockey goalie, Danny Battochio, and Rapid City business owner Vern Burress, together the idea came to fruition with the team being officially announced on April 27, 2021.

The mission of the Sabres is to provide advancement for its members to a higher tier or collegiate level of competition. Our organization is committed to a professional, competitive environment while holding strong values as individual members of our community.
