The Gillette Wild traveled to face the Badlands Sabres in a tightly contested Friday night matchup. The first period remained scoreless for both teams. The Sabres broke the stalemate three minutes into the second period as Carter Kilen found the back of the net. Donovan Balek answered for the Wild with six minutes left in the frame to even the score at one. Just three minutes later, Matthew Cordiis restored the Sabres’ lead to make it 2-1. With only thirteen seconds remaining in the period, Balek tallied his second of the night to tie the game at two. In the third, however, it was all Sabres, as they scored three unanswered goals, including one on the power play, to secure a 5-2 victory.
It was also a night the Badlands Sabres recognized all billet families who house the players.
