Feb 22, 2023

The Badlands Sabres are excited to announce that defensemen and captain Denim Young has signed a commitment to play with Montana State University (MSU) D2 for the fall of 2023.
This is Young’s second season with the Sabres and has over 5 seasons of experience under his belt in the NA3HL looking towards a college career. I’m looking forward to being back closer to home and back in Montana” said Young, “I’m also excited to be playing with some of my childhood friends again”.
Young will be studying business with an emphasis in finance. “If I can complete this degree it will take me a full 4 years, this is a great opportunity to continue to play hockey at a high level and further myself with an education”.
With a strong junior career under his belt playing in over a 100 regular season games tallying 30+ points, coach Brooks Mitzel sees a bright future for Young at the college level. “He’s a leader in the locker room, he’s got tremendous respect from his teammates, he leads by example and makes simple plays out on the ice and is not shy to play physical, he has a professional attitude that he brings to the team everyday”.
Some of Denim’s favorite memories playing junior hockey surround skating on the ODR (outdoor rink) with his billet brothers in Missoula, hiking in the Black Hills with the team and watching Brooks hit the griddy after a sweep !
